FESTIVAL DES ECRIVAINS DU MONDE
This new international writers’ festival is the result of an innovative collaboration between New York’s Columbia University and Paris’ Bibliothèque National de France. A celebration of world literature, it features literary city tours, round-table talks and slam poetry performances from an extraordinary line-up of writers from around the globe including Salman Rushdie, Catherine Millet, Michael Ondaatje and Edmund White! The themes for this year’s festival include cultural identity, exile and the effects of globalisation on writing, publishing, and reading today. Events kick off next Friday 20 at 7pm, with an interactive seminar at the Maison de la Poésie by Greek-Armenian screenwriter and novelist Petros Markaris. Check the website for the full programme.
