FIAC etc
Paris’ contemporary art fair the FIAC opens to the general public this Thu 21, running through till Sun. Splitting its offer over two central addresses in Paris, the fair reunites the younger galleries in a courtyard in the Louvre and the ‘heavyweights’ inside the Grand Palais. All the city’s galleries pull out their heavy artillery, programming shows from art stars like Jenny Holzer at Yvon Lambert (opening tonight, btw), Daniel Buren at Kamel Mennour, or Sophie Calle at the Palais de Tokyo. Galerie Chantal Crousel is opening a new space near République (11F rue Léon Jouhaux ) on Thu night, and NY gallerist Larry Gagosian lands in town too, opening his Paris satellite at 4 rue de Ponthieu on Wed night with a Cy Twombly show. Plus there’s a whole bunch of parallel art fairs including Show Off, Slick and new kid on the block Cutlog. And don’t forget about the city’s major museums, with Larry Clark and Basquiat on show at the Musée d’art Moderne, Gabriel Orozco at the Pompidou Centre, André Kertész at the Jeu de Paume, a major Monet retrospective at the Grand Palais and Murakami at the Château de Versailles!
Thu 21-Sun 24 Oct.
