Le Bal Café
Serving proper pots of tea, Stilton cheeses, kippers, and dishes like kedgeree or Welsh rarebit, chefs Alice Quillet and Anna Trattles are bringing the best of Brit cuisine to this great café inside new photography exhibition space Le Bal, just north of the Place de Clichy. Their excellent daily changing menu takes to heart cult London chef Fergus Henderson of St John Bread and Wine (where Anne used to work) ‘nose to tail’ ethos, serving up everything from black sausage to kidneys to pig’s head or ox heart. But don’t worry, you also might find sweet potato and sage gratin, or turnip soup on the menu. Everything’s homemade except the Poujauran bread, and they also pay great attention to their wine list. The weekend brunch (11am-4pm) menu is a killer and the coffee top-notch too.
Wed-Sat, 10am-11pm (7pm Sun).
6 impasse de la Défense, 18th.
